In this tutorial, you'll create a complete faceless video — with AI-written script, voice narration, and animated visuals — ready to publish on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, or Instagram Reels. No camera, no microphone, no video editing experience needed.

Understanding Faceless Video Types

VisualGEO offers five video types. Each serves a different content goal:

For this tutorial, we'll use the Narrated Slideshow — it's the most versatile for beginner-friendly content and gives you a feel for the full video creation pipeline including narration.

Step 1: Open the Wizard and Select Video

Navigate to VisualGEO Create and move through the wizard:

1. Category: Select "Faceless Video"
2. Type: Select "Narrated Slideshow"
3. Ratio: Select 9:16 (vertical format for TikTok, Shorts, Reels)
4. Mode: Select "AI Generate"

💡 Pro Tip: For YouTube Shorts and TikTok, always use 9:16. For LinkedIn or blog-embedded videos, 16:9 works better. Instagram Reels also use 9:16.

You'll land in the Video Editor with the AI Chat panel on the left.

Step 2: Write Your Video Prompt

The AI Chat for videos works like the image AI chat, but it generates a multi-scene script instead of a single graphic.

Enter this prompt to follow along:

Generate a video explaining 3 reasons why visual content is essential for AI search optimization in 2026. Each reason should be one scene. Professional tone. Keep each scene under 15 seconds.

The AI will generate:

• A title scene with an engaging hook
• 3 content scenes, one per reason
• A closing scene with a call to action
• Narration text for each scene
• Visual descriptions for each scene's layout

Step 3: Review Your Scenes

Once generation completes, the editor shows your video as a sequence of scenes in the Scenes tab. Each scene has:

• Text content — the on-screen text for that scene
• Narration script — the spoken words (if narration is enabled)
• Visual style — layout, colors, typography
• Motion style — how the scene animates

Editing a Scene

You can edit any scene's content:

1. Click on a scene in the sidebar to select it
2. Edit the text content directly
3. Change the motion style (slide, zoom, reveal, typewriter, harmony)
4. Adjust the background color or font style

💡 Pro Tip: For fast-paced Shorts/TikTok content, use "zoom" or "reveal" motion styles. For more educational content, "slide" transitions work better.

Step 4: Generate Voice Narration

This step brings your video to life. VisualGEO integrates with text-to-speech (TTS) to convert your script into natural-sounding narration.

To generate narration:

1. In the video editor, find the Narration section
2. Click "Generate Voiceover"
3. Select a voice style (the available options depend on your configured TTS provider)
4. Click Generate

The system sends each scene's narration text to the TTS API, generates audio files, and syncs them to the scene timing automatically.

💡 Pro Tip: Keep each scene's narration text between 10-20 seconds when spoken. This matches the ideal attention span for Shorts/TikTok content. The AI generates scene durations automatically based on text length.

Step 5: Preview Your Video

Click the Play button in the preview panel to watch your video from start to finish.

During playback, check for:

• Pacing — Does each scene stay long enough to read? Too long?
• Narration sync — Does the voiceover match the on-screen text?
• Transitions — Are scene changes smooth?
• Visual consistency — Do colors and fonts feel cohesive?
• Audio levels — Is the narration clear? Background music balanced?

Common fixes:

Step 6: Add Background Music (Optional)

For Motion Reel and Classic Video types, you can add background music:

1. Open the Settings panel
2. Under Background Music, select:
   • None — narration-only
   • Lo-fi — calm, ambient (good for educational content)
   • Piano — soft and elegant (good for inspirational quotes)
   • Upbeat — energetic (good for fast-paced tips)

For Narrated Slideshow, background music is disabled by default since the focus is on the voiceover.

Step 7: Export Your Video

Click the Export button to open the export modal. The export process:

1. Renders each scene — Remotion processes each frame of animation
2. Composites audio — Merges narration tracks and background music
3. Encodes video — Outputs an MP4 file with H.264 compression
4. Downloads automatically — Ready to upload

💡 Pro Tip: Export time depends on video length, scene complexity, and your device. A 60-second narrated slideshow typically exports in 30-90 seconds on a modern machine.

Publishing Your Video

YouTube Shorts

YouTube Shorts perform best at 9:16 (vertical) and under 60 seconds. Upload your exported MP4 directly to YouTube Studio.

Best practices for Shorts:

• Hook viewers in the first 3 seconds — your title scene is critical
• Use text overlays that are readable on mobile screens
• Tag with relevant keywords (GEO, AI search, content marketing, etc.)

TikTok

TikTok also uses 9:16 vertical format. Upload directly through the TikTok app or web uploader.

TikTok tips:

• First 2 seconds determine whether viewers scroll past — make them count
• Use trending audio or keep your AI-generated narration as the primary audio
• Add captions — many viewers watch without sound

Instagram Reels

Instagram Reels work at 9:16 or 4:5. The narrated slideshow format performs especially well on Reels because the pacing matches the platform's engagement patterns.

LinkedIn

For LinkedIn, consider 16:9 or 4:5 format. Professional educational content (explainers, industry insights, data highlights) performs best.

Hook in the First 3 Seconds

The first scene must grab attention. Start with:
